Hello Young Writers,
Have you heard about the National Novel Writing Month a.k.a. NaNoWriMo?
Every November writers around the world pledge to write an entire novel in thirty days. The definition of novel is very loose - if you consider it a novel, then that's what it is.
It's a great time to lay track and capture a new story that you can polish later.
There are pep talks by writers like Marissa Meyer and John Corey Whaley.
Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicle series started as three different NaNoWriMo novels. I've read the first in the trilogy, Cinder, and it's a page-turner! I can't wait for the second book to come out.
As a young writer, you can decide exactly how much you want to write by setting your word count no later than November 24th. More details here:

On a personal note, to show that I practice what I preach, I completed NaNoWriMo in 2010 and 2011. The novel that I wrote in NaNo 2010 is the one being published in 2014. NaNoWriMo can take you good places.
